Summary: In these chapters, Evan knew that Jessie was going to win. So, he grabbed all the lemonade he had, because Jessie was going to the beach in half an hour, poured it all in the cooler with the ice and water, and went to make his lemonade sign. Then Jessie came down and stuffed fruit flies, worms, a caterpillar, and a lot of dirt in the lemonade. Then, Evan took the cooler down the street to sell to people. The first few cups were fine but then, people started getting bugs in their lemonade and wanted their money back. So, Evan gave the money back and he and a woman together poured out all the lemonade. Evan went home feeling sad. But then, he realized the only possibilty that the bugs could’ve gotten in. He went to Jessie’s room but paused because there was a rule about going into other people’s rooms without getting permission first. But Evan just went into Jessie’s room, got her key, got her lock box, and opened the lock box. Inside, there was a big fat envelope that Evan took and opened. There were $208. That was it. I knew it! Jessie was going to win thought Evan. So, he grabbed his own money (which was only $62 eleven cents) and put in the lock box. He took Jessie’s envelope and put it in his pocket. Then, he went to the school but met Scott, Jack, Ryan, Kevin, Paul, Tommy, and Malik. They were all playing basketball when Jack went home to ask his mom if they could go in his pool together. So, Evan had to stay to make the teams fair. Then, Jack came back and said “Yes!” and everybody left. Evan went too with the envelope in his pocket. He changed into one of Jack’s swimsuits and played pool basketball with his friends. Then, Scott said he had to go and he left. When Evan went to go change, he found his clothes not how he’d left it. There was a pile of unfolded clothes and no envelope. So, at home, they were late for the fireworks because Jessie kept asking why she didn’t have her money. She opened the lock box and she found $62 eleven cents. She was even more sad. She apologized to Evan for putting the nature stuff in the lemonade and Evan apologized for taking the envelope. They watched the fireworks until it started to rain. A rainstorm. They closed all of the open windows and cleaned the puddles on the floors. Then, they became best friends again.
